A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE

If $165 strains the purse strings too much, Walmart has another option for the holidays.

The big box retailer’s “Easter meal for less” kit serves up to 10 people and costs less than $8 per person.

The curated meal includes a delectable ham, salad, dinner rolls, sweet potatoes, and apple pie.

Customers must order before March 31 to take advantage of the deal.

Doug McMillon, Walmart’s CEO, implied he expects store prices to drop as he said the Easter deal reflects pre-inflation levels.

“In food, prices are lower than a year ago in places like eggs, apples, and deli snacks, but higher in other places like asparagus and blackberries,” McMillion said in an earnings call.

“Private brand penetration is up in many of the countries where we operate, including the United States.”

Another Walmart executive expressed optimism reflected by the Easter offer.

“We’re proud to offer an Easter meal priced even lower than last year, so our customers can celebrate without sacrificing the essentials this holiday season and deliver on our promise of helping them save money and live better,” said Walmart’s executive vice president of food John Laney.
