AS tiny homes become increasingly popular throughout the US, more Americans are hopping on the simple-living wave.

While real estate prices soar, the cost of living remains difficult to bear for many.

Inflation touches every aspect of consumerism, from groceries to gas.

More and more citizens are facing harsh facts. Owning a full-sized home isn’t necessarily always realistic.

Fortunately, there’s a solution to fight this housing crisis, and it’s all about downgrading space to upgrade savings.

BLUEGRASS TINY RIDGE

The Bluegrass Tiny Ridge is a community in central Kentucky near Lancaster.

It’s an adult-only town that offers a space for tiny houses with various amenities.

Surrounded by green shrubbery and plenty of farmland to roam, the community is also home to cattle, deer, and migrating birds.

Some local attractions include:

  • Hiking/camping trails
  • Nearby lakes
  • Distilleries on the Bourbon Trail
  • Wineries
  • Local restaurants and shopping spots

The town is a non-smoking zone, so interested dwellers who puff through packs would have to kick the habit.

It’s also near several schools like Eastern Kentucky University and Centre College.

HOW CAN I MOVE IN

Prospective residents must meet three criteria to make Bluegrass their next home.

First, they must be able to afford space rental for $450 a month.

They also must have a tiny home or submit plans to build one.

Finally, they must undergo a background check and a lease agreement before occupancy.

The rental fee includes plumbing, trash, postal services, lockable six-by-eight-foot storage, mowed walking paths, and more.

There’s even a communal garden, group firepit, and a dog park for those who own pets.

Note that metered electric expenses are billed separately, and a local provider sells internet services.

APPLY TODAY

While Bluegrass Tiny Ridge is currently at its maximum capacity, interested candidates can submit a form to get added to the waitlist.

The form requires a name, a valid email address, and a message describing the candidate plus their tiny home plans.

Prospective residents should also specify when they want to relocate to make proper accommodations.

Bluegrass officials should respond within 12 hours, so if there hasn’t been an answer make sure to check if the email address is correct.

TINY-TASTIC

Another tiny home village is being built in Binghamton, New York.

The rent-free community is all thanks to Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, who’s made it his mission to help veterans.

Construction is slated to finish by 2025, and a Veteran’s Resource Center will be included along the residential area.

Veterans can take development classes or join support groups at the center.

Homes will come in two sizes, 831 square feet and 965 square feet.

There will also be a community garden for them to enjoy.
