A KROGER customer complained about the chain’s meat recipe and said it used to be better.
The social media user posted their frustration on X.

“Please change the recipe of your fried chicken back,” they wrote.
“This new double-battered chicken is disgusting. The old recipe was the best and tasted homemade. Please.”
Kroger replied from their account expressing gratitude for the food recommendation.
“So sorry for any concerns. We have shared your feedback regarding the new taste of the Deli Fried Chicken with our quality teams for review,” they wrote.
The U.S. Sun requested a comment from Kroger.
CHICKEN CRITICS
Kroger has a couple of fried chicken options for customers to browse.
The Harris Teeter Ready to Heat Double Fried Chicken has a one-out-of-five-star rating.
However, a customer labeled the chicken “too expensive.”
“Be aware this cold chicken is only four pieces,” they wrote.
“They charge only $7.99 for eight pieces of hot chicken. Same price, yet four pieces of cold chicken versus eight pieces of hot chicken.”
The Double Dipped Fried Chicken has a 3.14 star rating.
One shopper said it was a “really good price.”
But other customers expressed the chicken wasn’t worth the money even with a deal.
“Bought the eight-piece fried chicken and it turned out to be four pieces of chicken and four chicken fingers,” they wrote.
“Very disappointed.”
PRICE HIKES
Kroger shoppers have been boycotting the store, citing they can’t keep up with price surges on grocery products.
How to cut the cost of your grocery shop
BELOW are some tips on how to reduce the amount you spend on groceries.
- Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
- Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
- Never shop hungry – You are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
- Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
- Use social media – Follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
- Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
- Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
- Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
“We need laws against this,” one user wrote on X, saying they stopped going to Kroger and Albertsons stores.
